This rubber, known as EPDM, is produced through the co-polymerization of ethylene and propylene using Ziegler-Natta catalysts at a temperature of 40°C, with small amounts of dienes whose type depends on the desired rubber properties – the most common of these dienes being isoprene and butadiene.

It is the most widely used synthetic rubber for thin, single-ply roof insulation because it is readily available and simple to apply. EPDM roofing rolls have advanced significantly in roof insulation in recent years.

Covering seams has become simple with the addition of application tape, resulting in faster installation – these tapes have reduced labor by up to 75%. It is a low-cost material. When applied correctly in appropriate locations, its warrantied lifespan and expected service life both reach up to 30 years.
